Title: John William Lendrem 1881-1966
Body: John William was the eldest of three brothers. His younger brother James (1891-1967) fought with the Durham Light Infantry in the Great War and his youngest brother George Robert (1893-1916) died during the last phase of the Somme. John William had emigrated to the United States and enlisted with the US Expeditionary Force when the US joined the war in 1917. After the war he married Ellen Andersen of Swedish parentage and they had a daughter Lois Lendrem (1920-2003). Lois married Leonard Wichmann and eventually settled in Greenville, South Carolina.
